Package repository snapshots
Snapshots are complete, read-only copies of package repositories taken at a point in time. A snapshot never changes after it is published, which makes it suitable for reproducible builds and for installing many machines to exactly the same state.
| Path | Description |
|---|---|
/pub/snapshots/YYYY-MM-DD/ | Daily snapshot, full repository tree including metadata and signatures |
/pub/snapshots/latest/ | Points at the most recent complete snapshot |
/pub/snapshots/weekly/ | One snapshot per week, retained longer than dailies |
Notes
- A single snapshot is a large tree (hundreds of gigabytes for a full repository), so first-time synchronisation of a local cache takes a while; later updates only fetch changed files.
- Repository metadata is published last, so a snapshot is only listed once it is complete.
